The heart of the Palentine mountains will beat stronger thanks to the renewal of its lighting system

Guardo, Aguilar, and Cervera de Pisuerga are the three main towns of the Palentine Mountain region.
Cervera de Pisuerga, known for its unique beauty, shaped by unspoiled nature and enriched with art and history, is now taking a significant step toward energy efficiency and public safety through the renewal of its public lighting system.

A town with deep livestock and artisanal traditions, which today also thrives thanks to tourism, will become an even greater attraction with the renovation of its lighting system — ensuring safety, comfort, and peace of mind for both visitors and residents.

Cervera de Pisuerga is one of the municipalities that has benefited from FEDER funding under the 2014–2020 program, enabling it to invest in 100% efficient, low-carbon lighting.
In this particular case, the project — with a total cost of nearly one million euros — has received almost €500,000 (€464,269) in FEDER aid, a breath of fresh air for the municipal budget, which will also receive support from the Provincial Council to cover the remaining 50% of the project.

The work in Cervera de Pisuerga is being carried out under the supervision and technical direction of EnergyTAS, a leading company in public lighting management.
Energy efficiency is the core objective of all EnergyTAS projects: reducing energy consumption, and therefore costs, while minimizing carbon dioxide emissions.

The project includes a total of 1,613 light points, with PHILIPS selected as the manufacturer responsible for supplying the luminaires — a trusted choice backed by years of experience and market expertise, ensuring the project’s success.

EnergyTAS conducted a meticulous audit, inspecting every light point, control cabinet, and cable network. The team identified obsolete or malfunctioning luminaires, as well as previous, unsuccessful attempts to replace them with LED systems that failed to perform properly.

These will be replaced with new LED luminaires equipped with dimmable electronic ballasts, remote communication capability, and high energy efficiency.
At the same time, the control cabinets will be upgraded, focusing on protection systems, on/off regulation, and the replacement of damaged columns to achieve uniform illumination throughout the streets.

Each control cabinet will be equipped with a remote management system, allowing precise control of switching times, operating schedules, and dimming levels.
This will not only reduce light pollution, but will also have a direct impact on energy consumption, significantly lowering the electricity bill for the municipality.

The new lighting system will give Cervera de Pisuerga a renewed atmosphere, making it a safer, more inviting place while highlighting the town’s architectural and natural beauty.
Special attention will be given to the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), which will become a vibrant meeting and recreation point for everyone.

The Town Council has chosen to invest in a lighting system that meets the highest quality standards and addresses the safety needs of its residents — a goal made possible thanks to the work of EnergyTAS, public lighting specialists with over 20 years of experience in the sector.

With this new lighting system, Cervera de Pisuerga is set to become one of the most efficient and safest towns in northern Spain.
