THIS YEAR, THE CORPUS CHRISTI CELEBRATION IN PONTEAREAS — THE MUNICIPALITY’S MOST ICONIC FESTIVITY — WILL SHINE WITH A NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM.
The works, operations, and replacement tasks for the public lighting system in Ponteareas are coming to an end, meeting the goals agreed upon between the Town Council and the company in charge.
Following these actions, ACEINSA, faithful to its commitment to the environment, will achieve the previously projected energy savings of 4,391,565 kWh and prevent 1,712.79 tons of CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere.
In just a few weeks, Ponteareas will complete the renovation of its public lighting, replacing the old system with new LED technology and smart remote management.
To date, 90% of the luminaires and control panels have been replaced, implementing a solution that allows real-time monitoring, measurement, and remote control, ensuring a higher quality of lighting.
In this final phase, the focus is on the municipality’s main streets, given the importance of the night before the Corpus Christi festival, when residents create the famous floral carpets that decorate the streets.
Detailed lighting studies and optical adjustments in each area will guarantee optimal illumination and high uniformity with the minimum required power.
The appropriate color temperature and optimal light levels will create a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere.
Over the past months, residents have witnessed the gradual transformation of street lighting—from the most remote parishes to the town center and its busiest streets.
This change brings a significant reduction in energy consumption, lower maintenance and operational costs, a smaller carbon footprint, and reduced light pollution.
During this final stage, the engineering firm responsible for the project, EnergyTAS, will conduct an in-depth review of the proper functioning of all equipment, including both luminaires and control panels, ensuring compliance with OCA (Authorized Control Body) requirements.
Each street will be checked individually to detect dark areas and verify the light levels of the installed fixtures.
Special attention will also be given to critical areas, such as pedestrian crossings and zones that previously suffered from poor or nonexistent lighting.
Thanks to this modernization, Ponteareas takes a major step toward energy efficiency, providing residents with safer streets while achieving a substantial reduction in environmental impact.
